Positive coronavirus cases in India near 1,400-mark. The number of coronavirus cases in India have reached 1,397 on Tuesday, says Health Ministry. Out of these, 38 cases are being assigned to states to initiate contact tracing. Out of these positive cases, 49 are foreign nationals. The number of deaths due to COVID-19 also surged to a new-single day high as 11 people succumbing to infection in last 24 hours. The death toll in the country has risen to 35. Fresh deaths were reported from  Telangana ,  Maharashtra and West Bengal. Over 200 cases related to COVID-19 infection reported from the various states, the highest for a single day so far. According to the Ministry of Health and Welfare, 124 coronavirus patients have been cured and discharged, including one migrated patient. COVID-19: Kerala state reports second death. Indian state has highest number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala: A 68-year-old man who had tested positive for COVID-19 passed away on Tuesday morning, taking the toll of the deaths in Kerala due to the disease to two. Kerala with 202 confirmed cases as of Monday evening, has the highest number of COVID-19 patients among all states and union territories in the country. The man had been on a ventilator for the past five days. The Medical Superintendent, Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram, said, "A man who had been tested positive for coronavirus passed away early morning today. He suffered kidney failure." There are over 1,200 confirmed cases of the disease in India with the number of active cases being upwards of the 1,100 mark as of Monday evening.

Gold prices in India today fall for third day in a row

Gold prices in India edged lower today while silver saw some buying at lower levels, reflecting the global trend. On MCX, June gold futures fell 0.35% to  ₹ 43,232 per 10 gram, extending decline to the third day though it has remained in a narrow range. Silver futures on MCX gained 0.3% to  ₹ 39,925 per kg after crashing over  ₹ 1,000 in the previous session. Still on a quarterly basis, gold has posted strong gains of about  ₹ 4,000 per 10 gram and had reached a new high of about  ₹ 45,000 per 10 gram earlier this month. New Delhi:  The Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government has asked the Delhi Police to register a FIR against a maulana for flouting quarantine protocols. This comes as almost 175 people in Delhi were taken to quarantine centres after they started showing symptoms of Covid-19 after attending a religious gathering in Nizamuddin area of Delhi. HYDERABAD: Six people from Telangana who attended a religious congregation in Delhi's Nizamuddin between March 13 and 15 died due to novel coronavirus, the state government said on Monday. "Coronavirus has spread among some of those who attended a religious prayer meeting from March 13 to 15 at Markaz in Nizamuddin area in Delhi," according to an official release. "Among those who attended were some persons from Telangana." Two of the six died at the Gandhi Hospital, one each in two private hospitals , and one each in Nizamabad and Gadwal towns, the statement said, without mentioning the time of their deaths.

Hyderabad : The Directorate of Government Examinations on Monday postponed all the SSC Public Examinations scheduled to be held from March 31 to April 6 due to the lockdown extended till April 14 as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19 . Earlier, as per the directions of the High Court, the SSC Public Examinations that were to be held from March 23 to 30 were postponed. Two fresh COVID-19 cases were reported in Andhra Pradesh today. New COVID-19 cases were confirmed from East Godavari district, taking the total number of cases in the region to three. A 49-year-old man from Kakinada city was diagnosed positive for coronavirus, the Andhra Pradesh COVID-19 bulletin mentioned. The second patient hails from Rajahmundry city. With these new cases, the total number of coronavirus positive patients in Andhra Pradesh has surged to 23. “The travel details of both the patients are being traced currently and will be released in the day," the bulletin said. As India entered into Day 6 of a 21-day lockdown to check the spread of coronavirus, the government dismissed reports that claimed that the lockdown will be extended. "There are rumours and media reports, claiming that the government will extend the lockdown when it expires.
